Recognized for outstanding clinical, educational and research initiatives in family health

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is proud to be a leader in offering forward-thinking medical education and training, providing outstanding clinical care, and enhancing the health and well-being of our community through innovative outreach programs, research and specialty services.

Our multidisciplinary team of more than 400 clinicians, educators, researchers, students and support staff work together to achieve health care’s “Quadruple Aim”: improving population health, optimizing patient experience and quality of care, enhancing care team satisfaction and reducing costs.

Our department is home to more than a dozen clinic locations throughout central Ohio, serving more than 90,000 patients annually. We offer a wide range of team-based services, including full spectrum family medicine clinical services, with an enhanced focus on transgender care, immigration health, integrated behavioral health, adolescent medicine and medication-assisted therapy for opioid use disorder.

We’re dedicated to training the next generation of Family and Community Medicine providers, with 27 medical residents and nine fellows in our clinical health/primary care psychology, sports medicine, ultrasound medicine, clinical informatics and advanced practice provider fellowship programs.

Our faculty and staff are actively engaged in research, focusing on a variety of topics including clinical quality and outcomes, patient satisfaction, telehealth, health equity, community health and wellness.

As leaders in patient-centered, team-based care, our family medicine offices were chosen to participate in Comprehensive Primary Care, which is a national advanced primary care medical home model of care. Our physicians are part of 13,090 (of more than 209,000) clinicians nationwide to obtain this designation.
