The Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) actively promotes involvement of first and second year medical students through workshops, meetings, lecture series, and community service. The goals of FMIG are to:
Any student who thinks they might be interested in Family Medicine is welcome to join FMIG and all FMIG events are open to all OSU Medical Students. Membership to FMIG and all FMIG events are free. Contact Dr. Macerollo if interested in joining Allison.Macerollo@osumc.edu

The Family Medicine Leadership Development Program (FMLDP) creates professional and leadership development opportunities for our third and fourth-year medical students. Any student showing an interest in Family Medicine receives a formal invitation to the group. Monthly meetings are held at the home of the faculty advisor(s) and consist of dinner followed by brief committee reports. At most meetings, a special speaker is invited to make a short presentation, and the evening is concluded with dessert and socializing.
The Family Medicine Leadership Development Program recently initiated a new arm to the program called Residency Connection. The goal of this program is to foster an ongoing relationship between current medical students interested in Family Medicine and residents and young physicians who have graduated from Ohio State and who have pursued family medicine as a career. Residents and recent graduates are able to stay connected with Ohio State, giving back by motivating and inspiring students to pursue family medicine as a specialty.

FMIG and FMLDP were established to involve medical students in Family Medicine activities and to develop their members into leaders of Family Medicine, medicine as a whole, and their communities.
