Long-Established Funds

  • Dr. J. Martin Byers Jr. Memorial Fund in Family Medicine (Fund # 641015)

This fund was established October 2, 1992, by Dr. and Mrs. James M. Byers III, family and friends in memory of Dr. Byers’ father through The Foundation. Income fosters and nurtures rural medicine through the Department. Unused income is reinvested to principal.

  • Dr. Peter and Alice Lancione Endowment Fund in Family Medicine (Fund # 603922)

This fund was established July 10, 1992, by J. Boyd and Penelope L. Binning in honor of Mrs. Binning’s parents. Income supports scholarships and partial stipends, with preference to those expressing a commitment to family medicine in a rural or small Ohio community.

  • Thomas E. Rardin Family Practice Center Fund (Fund # 605968)

This fund was established November 30, 1979, by alumni and other friends of the Department of Family Medicine. Income and principal, if needed, provide all or a portion of the cost of establishing, constructing, equipping and maintaining the Thomas E. Rardin Family Practice Center.

  • Marianna H. and P. Tennyson Williams MD, Endowment Fund (Fund # 647715)

This fund was established May 5, 1995, by Mrs. and Dr. Williams, chair and professor emeritus, through The Foundation. Income supports fellowships, with priority to those pursuing academic careers in family medicine or a fellow in training as a family medicine academician.

  • Marie J. and Robert S. Young Fund in Family Medicine (Fund # 607735)

This fund was established June 4, 1993, by the Youngs, the Department of Family Medicine, family, colleagues and friends of Dr. Robert Young, professor emeritus. Income supports projects and programs fostering education in family and, when appropriate, rural medicine.

  • Crisafi-Monte Endowment Funds (Fund # 601491)

This fund, supporting family medicine in the College of Medicine and Public Health, was established November 2, 1990, by Clara and Victor Monte and Bertha and Jack Crisafi. Ninety percent of the income supports teaching, research and scholarships in diseases of the heart, lungs and related disorders with particular attention to individuals in primary care and family medicine. Remaining income is reinvested to principal.

  • John J. Fahey Fund (Fund # 602103)

This fund, supporting family medicine in the College of Medicine and Public Health, was established December 10, 1964, by Dr. Fahey. Income funds any appropriate purpose in the College.
